My two cents worth: An Post raises price of stamp

Letters sent domestically to rise to 72 cent with international mail increasing to €1.10

The cost of sending a letter is due to rise next month, although An Post claims the new rate is still well below the EU average.

An Post said the cost of sending a standard letter within Ireland will increase from 70 cent to 72 cent from July 21st, while an international letter will rise from €1.05 to €1.10.

Despite the increase, An Post said its domestic rate was one of the lowest in western Europe, comparing favourably against Britain, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The new rate is also below the EU average of 93 cent.
