Glasgow-based patent law firm Murgitroyd snaps up Dublin practice

Hanna Moore and Curley (HMC), which specialises in intellectual property protection, has been acquired by Glasgow-based patent law firm Murgitroyd.

No transaction details have been disclosed for the deal, which sees Murgitroyd buying one of the State’s largest patent and trademark attorney firms.

Hanna Moore and Curley, which was established in in 2003, is primarily focused on securing and upholding patent protection for companies working across the life sciences, electronics and technology sectors.

In addition to its Dublin headquarters, the legal practice has a presence in China.

Murgitroyd chief executive Gordon Stark said the acquisition adds specialist attorney technical expertise and further develops the law firm's pan-European presence. It also has offices in Britain, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, and Finland.

“HMC is a highly regarded and progressive IP business and the integration of our Dublin offices will enhance client services and future business development,” he said.

Founded in 1975, Murgitroyd has close to 100 patent and trade mark professionals and more than 360 staff.
