Irish Life Health members get discounted access to new minor injury clinics

Affidea readies two new express care clinics with more to follow

Members of Irish Life Health will be able to avail of reduced cost access to Affidea's minor injury clinics, opening later this year in Cork and Dublin. It follows Vhi restricting access to its Swiftcare clinics for Vhi members only as of September 1st.

Irish Life Health says it will be the first health insurer to cover all Affidea Express Care diagnostic centres and offer reduced rate for consultations, at €100, a 33 per cent discount on the standard consultation fee.

Earlier this year Affidea, which was previously known as Euromedic, and currently operates 10 clinics across Ireland offering scanning services, said it will open two new healthcare centres to provide “efficient, effective and convenient treatment and advice on minor injuries and illnesses”. The services will be consultant led and supported by a team of senior medical professionals.

Affidea will open an Express Care Clinic in The Elysian, Cork in November and Tallaght, Dublin in December, and also has its eye on Galway and Limerick. The clinics will be available to treat a full range of minor injuries. Each clinic will have access to the latest and more modern diagnostic services on-site including MRI, ultrasound, CT and plain X-ray.

"When it comes to treating minor injuries and illnesses, it is important for our members and their families to have an alternative to visiting busy hospital accident and emergency units. They will soon have access to Affidea Express Care Clinics for a range of treatments," Jim Dowdall, managing director, Irish Life Health said.
