Oracle is continuing to gain momentum over Microsoft on network technology (NT)

Oracle is continuing to gain momentum over Microsoft on network technology (NT). Recently released International Data Corp, (IDC), figures show that Oracle's market share on NT has increased from 24.8 per cent in 1995 to 30.3 per cent in 1996. Meanwhile, IDC charted a 9.1 per cent drop in Microsoft's NT market share, slipping from 40 per cent to 30.9 per cent. Oracle's relational database revenues on Windows NT show data server revenue growth has more than trebled over the past year.

In 1996, Oracle, which employs more than 400 people in Ireland, recorded a $145 million leap in NT-driven revenue. IDC's survey of the 1996 fiscal year, shows that Oracle's NT revenues have more than doubled to $210 million compared with Microsoft's $213.8 million.
