A Northern Ireland engineering company which announced 400 redundancies earlier this year has had a remarkable turnaround in fortunes. Larne-based F G Wilson admitted it may have been too hasty in announcing the layoffs. The firm said yesterday that just more than 200 people actually left the company, mostly the result of voluntary redundancy. Now owned by Caterpillar, the firm said it has seen a rapid upturn on orders in recent weeks.
