Littlewoods Ireland is to sponsor RTÉ's coverage of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest coverage later this month.

The deal cost the online department store €40,000 and will include opening mentions for Littlewoods Ireland leading into the coverage for the two semi final shows on May 10th and 12th on RTÉ 2, and for the live final on RTÉ One on May 14th.

The sponsorship will also see adverts for Littlewoods Ireland on the RTÉ player, radio mentions from the live broadcast across 2FM, and promotion across RTÉ’s social channels.

In a statement, Littlewoods Irelands said it would seek to generate excitement around the contest through its social media accounts, which have over 225,000 followers.

Littlewoods Ireland ecommerce and marketing manager Rossa Butler said the company would look to build on the online discussion around the Eurovision.

“More and more we are seeing an increase in the online discussion around the Eurovision and as a digital business we believe we can add to the conversation - taking it to a new level for 2016,” he said.

Ruth Kennedy of RTÉ Sponsorship said the campaign would begin online on April 25th with digital content, competitions, banner adverts and email alerts. Activity across television, radio, and the RTÉ player will run from May10th until May 14th.
