Irish Design 2015 seeks crafty PR advice

Plan should reflect themes of ‘sense of place, sustainability, creativity and well-being’

It is time for PR professionals to get eloquent about their long- standing love of all things crafts: Irish Design 2015, a year-long Government-sponsored initiative, is hiring.

ID2015 is seeking proposals to create “a comprehensive PR plan” that will help it communicate “the essence of Irish design”.

Originally listed in one of the Government's job action plans in connection with a medium-term job-creation target of 1,800 for the sector, Irish Design 2015 is a collaboration between the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland, the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Enterprise Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

There appear to be few sharp edges in the 14-month task that lies ahead for the successful public relations consultant or consultants. The primary objective of the PR plan will be “to communicate what ID2015 is and what it stands for”, zeroing in on its “core themes” of “sense of place, sustainability, creativity and well-being”.

The aim of ID2015 is to “raise Ireland’s profile as a design-led destination for industry, tourism and the creative and technology sectors”, according to the wordy brief published on the eTenders website.

Design is “in our DNA and at the heart of everything we create”, it continues. “We want to reveal another side to a country with a deep design heritage, positioning Ireland as building a better future through design.”

If anyone can help draw up such a plan, the closing date for responses is 1pm on December 12th.
