Quinn Packaging, one of the largest food packaging manufacturing operations in Ireland and Britain, has invested €3 million at its main production facility in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan.

The company, which was formerly part of the Quinn Group, is acquiring a new PET sheet extrusion line, in what is the first major investment of Quinn Industrial Holdings since it acquired the Quinn packaging and construction industry supply businesses in December 2014.

Once fully commissioned, the line will provide additional capacity for the company to develop its PET sheet and meat tray business, it said.

With a 19,000m2 production facility, Quinn Packaging manufactures a range of packaging products.

“”This investment in Quinn Packaging will allow the company to further develop its’ presence within the rigid food packaging sector and represents a commitment to our customers and employees. ,” said Mark McKenna, general manager .

“We believe that the extra investment been made in the Vacurema recycling system which also give us a competitive advantage over many of our competitors by allowing us to replace virgin polymer material with less expensive recycled material and still produce a higher quality sheet,” he added.
