Irish companies are investing in IT again, a new survey claims, with recruitment for desktop and infrastructure support roles increasing.
According to research from technology services and consultancy firm IT Alliance Group, experienced desktop and infrastructure support staff topped the list of the six most wanted staff in January. The findings came as the company analysed almost 200 positions on its books at the end of January.
"There is always strong demand for software engineers and project managers but the fact that desktop and infrastructure support vacancies head the list of current vacancies suggests that business is investing again in its IT systems which is positive news for the economy," said Frank O'Beirne, head of IT Alliance Resourcing Services.
Almost 16 per cent of vacancies were for desktop and infrastructure support, followed by network engineers at 11 per cent.
