Irish company, Iona Technologies, has announced the formation of an internal industry group that will manage the growing adoption of Orbix by organisations in the airline and travel industry.

Iona's Orbix has been deployed in many segments of the airline and travel industry such as airport systems, air traffic control, cargo, engineering, manufacturing and travel distribution systems. The Orbix family of products is designed to enable organisations make their software work together.

It will provide necessary back-up and expertise to organisations involved in information systems engineering. Iona currently works with organisations that are re-engineering their business processes, and which require large distributed object systems based on open standards.
