The Irish Co-operative Organisation Society (ICOS) has urged the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mr Walsh, to allocate the additional quota of 11 million gallons of milk, which becomes available for Ireland next April, to those dairy farmers who already have been successful under this year's allocation.
Mr George Kearns, secretary of the dairy committee of the ICOS, said it would bring the 690 gallons of quota already allocated this year up to 1,200 gallons, which would be a meaningful allocation for these farmers.
