Frankfurt DAX: 3,661.84 (+36.10)
German shares ended 1 per cent higher as they sought to match gains registered in late electronic trade on Tuesday evening. But further significant gains were ruled out as market uncertainty over the Bonn/Bundesbank row over the revaluation of German assets continued to upset sentiment, despite soothing statements from both sides. Dealers said it was a low volume session.
Paris CAC: 2,635.37 (+10.88)
The Paris Bourse posted a moderate gain yesterday as the CAC 40 index finished up 0.41 per cent from Tuesday's close. It was the third successive gain this week.
Traders said the market was enjoying a honeymoon period with the Left and bargain hunting helped to support prices.
Milan Mibtel: 12260 (+22)
Italian shares closed mixed in featureless trade on a selective market starved of liquidity. There was some scattered buying at the lows. Italia Mobile rose 0.8 per cent to 5,142 lira while insurer Alleanza went 0.94 per cent higher to 10,967.
