Johnny Sexton will take to the pitch for Ireland tomorrow in the rugby test against Australia. He has also been audible on the airwaves recently, fronting an advertisement for the financial institution Investec.

Sexton exhorts listeners to “play the long game” with their wealth and he sounds pretty good. He must have recorded it before he broke his jaw a couple of months ago.

Another of Investec's "ambassadors", the Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, was in Johannesburg this week with the bank, which is headquartered in South Africa.

A hard-working chap, he also gave a talk earlier this month to a group of Investec clients in Dublin at the Merrion hotel. He clearly has a lot of drive . . .
