Kentz wins Mideast engineering contracts worth $18 million

Irish firm awarded contract for replacement of Abu Dhabi Gas Industries control system

Irish engineering firm Kentz has won two significant engineering contracts in the Middle East, valued at about $18 million.

The Clonmel-based group has been awarded a contract for the replacement of Abu Dhabi Gas Industries existing control system and associated electrical and instrumentation services in the onshore oil fields of Habshan.

Kentz said the second contract was for a new client in Abu Dhabi, and has been awarded as part of an ongoing agreement, whereby Kentz shall execute multiple scopes under the management of a specialist contractor.

Kentz , which specialises in helping larger industrial customers to develop oilfields and gasfields, recently rejected takeover approaches from larger London-listed rival Amex and Germany’s M+W Group, saying both undervalued the company.

Amec and H+W were understood to be offering about £700 million (€835 million) for the company.
