‘Trade mission’ to Dublin and Cork aims to link multinationals with Irish suppliers

The State’s inward investment and export agencies are leading a two-day trade and investment mission in Dublin and Cork which aims to create business opportunities for Irish-owned companies with multinationals based in the Republic.

Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland’s join “Global Sourcing” programme has arranged more than 400 meetings between 188 suppliers and 96 multinationals based here to give access to procurement teams within those larger companies.

The Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, is leading the mission alongside Minister of State, Pat Breen.

Ms Humphreys said the mission is aimed at showcasing products and services of companies based in the Republic to multinationals.

‘Win win’

“This is a ‘win win’ for everyone involved – Irish companies can scale and go global more quickly, and multinationals can get the cutting-edge solutions they need from their base in Ireland,” she said.

The two-day mission will involve open networking sessions in addition to the one-on-one meetings.

IDA Ireland chief executive Martin Shanahan said the collaboration between multinationals and small companies will bring “huge benefits to local economies” and present Ireland as a “welcoming pro-business destination”.
