Opportunities Overseas Expo returns to Dublin

The Opportunities Overseas Expo returns to Dublin this Wednesday, with more than 1,000 jobs up for grabs in New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Among those recruiting will be New Zealand companies Brosnan Construction, Argus Fire Protection and Ryman Healthcare; the government of Western Australia's department of health and the government of Nova Scotia.

The event will have a special focus on construction and engineering jobs in New Zealand.

“Christchurch is now in the fourth year of the Earthquake Recovery Programme. There’s rebuild of extraordinary scale and complexity, with an average spend of $2.5 million a day,” Working In chief executive Scott Mathieson said.

He said the expo was not a “recession event but is for skilled engineers and construction workers to look at international opportunities to build their careers.”

Fashion decoded
Also taking place on Wednesday is Decoded Fashion Dublin, bringing together tech start-ups, retail executives, investors and designers to discuss fashion and technology.

The theme is globalisation versus localisation, with a panel that includes IBM marketing manager Rory Caren, Gilt Ireland chief operating officer Fidelma Healy and Renate McIntyre, Dublin site lead of Etsy. Chaired by Frockadvisor co-founder Sonya Lennon, guests will have the opportunity to discuss the trials facing fashion and retail in Ireland.
