More than 290 jobs to be created in Cork, Dublin and Laois

More than 290 new jobs are to be created by the Mater Private hospital in Cork, Dublin-based software developer Sidetrade and the accountancy practice Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon

Taoiseach Enda Kenny announced 150 new jobs at a private hospital in Cork which is investing €70 million in the expansion of the facility.

Mr Kenny made the announcement during a visit to the Mater Private Cork at City Gate in Mahon where the workforce is set to grow from 100 to 250 over the next two years.

“This is a significant announcement for the people of Cork and the surrounding region,” said Mr Kenny during the visit to the 75 bed hospital in the Cork suburb this morning.

“Many of the new positions are highly skilled medical roles, which will be of interest to consultant and other healthcare professionals from the Munster region.

“Furthermore, this investment by Mater Private Cork will provide the people of Cork and the surrounding counties access to a wide range of innovative private medical services.

A further 90 posts are to be created by French firm SideTrade, which creates software for companies to manage their financial relationships with customers.

Sidetrade, which has annual sales worth €13.6 million, said the posts would come on stream over the next two years.

“Dublin is a fantastic hub for technology and innovation, which are Sidetrade’s main pillars. Dublin and Ireland hosts a wealth of candidates especially within the multilingual sectors, who are well educated and motivated to succeed in their careers,” said Olivier Novasque, chief executive at Sidetrade .

Separately, 50 jobs are to be created nationally over the next two years following the merger of the Portlaoise accountancy practice Bardon Molumby with Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon. The roles will range from trainees to qualified professionals in accountancy and business discipline

Post-merger, Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon will employ more than 150 professionals across offices in Dublin, Galway, Birr and Portlaoise.

"Our merger will consolidate the experience, knowledge and resources of both firms. Many of our clients have an increasing desire for service and sector specialists and this merger will provide easy access to that expertise," said Pat Keegan, a director at Bardon Molumby.
