Esat Digifone has called on the Government to change its policies on mobile phones. Chief executive, Mr Barry Maloney, called on the regulator to commission independent monitoring of emissions from equipment used in radio-based technologies, including mobile phones.
He urged the Government to draw up a list of State-accredited "experts" to satisfy the public's genuine need for information on mobile phone systems. Mr Maloney also stressed that if the State was happy to licence radio-based technologies, it needed to publicly state that it was doing so in the belief that the technologies posed no known health risk.
