Compaq warned of inability to meet PC delivery deadlines, due to a shortage of spare parts caused by the Taiwan earthquake, the Wall Street Journal said yesterday.

A spokesman for the manufacturer confirmed the group expected "spot delays of shipments" to retailers of some PC models.

The news follows announcements by HewlettPackard whose delivery schedules have also been affected by the earthquake in Taiwan - a major world centre for PC component manufacturing.
