Scott Tallon Walker records operating loss of €545,996

Architectural firm Scott Tallon Walker recorded an operating loss of €545,996 last year despite rising revenues.

The company, which co-designed the Aviva Stadium, made an operating loss of €545,996 in 2014, after profit of €777,961 the previous year.

The loss comes despite a rising turnover, with revenues increasing from €4.1 million in 2013 to €4.8 million last year.

Accounts just filed by the firm show a pre-tax loss of €518,440 last year compared with a pre-tax profit of €796,309 in 2013.

The number of employees increased from 52 to 57 between 2013 and last year. Staff costs, including wages and pensions, jumped from €1.5 million in 2013 to €3.2 million.

The directors of the company said 2014 saw “real recovery in the Irish market” with a number of new contracts secured.

“We have recruited a number of people to deliver this work in 2015, and their costs are reflected in the operating expenses in 2014,” they wrote in the directors’ report.
