The rates charged for converting pounds into euro zone currencies varies greatly between AIB and Bank of Ireland. Yesterday AIB said it would charge £3.50 to convert £100 into another euro zone currency. Bank of Ireland would charge £2.25. A recent EU report showed the average cost of a credit transfer of €100 from Ireland is €25.61, the highest in the euro zone.
