Students are increasingly ditching the traditional shared house for the comfort of penthouse style living.
Ziggurat, which operates the Montrose Student Residence on the doorstep of UCD, said on Wednesday that it is already fully booked for the new academic term in September 2015.
All 192 rooms, which cost from €195/week are reserved, with 95 of those being taken by current residents opting to continue their tenancy for another year.
Located on the Stillorgan Road, the residence was formerly known as the Montrose Hotel, but underwent a € 22.5 million redevelopment and offers a total of 192 en-suite bedroom units, arranged in a choice of six to eight bedroom “cluster flats” each with communal living, kitchen and dining areas.
On campus residences in nearby UCD cost upwards of €128 a week.
