Three-storey Eton Brae will be divided as 14 new houses are built on grounds

Eton Brae: The Victorian mansion in Shankill has planning permission for conversion into two large apartments, plus 14 new houses on the grounds.

Agent CBRE is quoting a guide price of €2.5 million for Eton Brae, a large Victorian house at Corbawn Lane in Shankill, Co Dublin, with planning permission to be converted into two apartments alongside 14 new houses in the grounds.

The 620sq m (6,675sq ft) mansion was previously owned by businessman Liam Maye, one of the founding directors of Castlethorn, which developed Dundrum Town Centre. He died unexpectedly in 2008.

The planners have given consent for the three-storey house to be converted into two large apartments. According to CBRE, it has the potential to be divided into several more residential units.

The planning consent provides for eight new three-bedroom houses extending to 152sq m (1,636sq ft) and six four-bedroom houses with floor areas of 167sq m (1,797sq ft).

Robert Colleran of CBRE said he expects considerable interest in the large house and grounds, which are located beside Shankill train station.
