The fast growing Sam McCauley chemist chain is stepping up its operation in Kilkenny by taking over the high profile Sherwood’s store on High Street.

Sherwood’s, a firm specialising in electrical products since 1953, is relocating to Kilkenny Retail Park. Sam McCauley is to carry out a major refurbishment of its 557 sq m (6,000 sq ft) store before opening in August with a wider range of products and services. The company is understood to have agreed a rent of around €130,000 per annum for the premises.

Keiron Diamond of GVA Donal O Buachalla acted for Sam McCauley chemists which now have 27 shops, mainly along the east coast.

Michael Boyd of agents REA Boyds advised Sherwood's.
