Meath County Council has bought the former Quinn insurance office block in Navan for use as its new headquarters.
The council is to pay €5.15 million for the 7,710sq m (82,989sq ft) building which cost well in excess of €20 million to complete and fit out. The block stands on an eight-acre site in the IDA Business and Technology Park. The Quinn Insurance Group had planned to create 700 jobs in Navan until the company was put into administration.
Council savings
Mr Brendan McGrath, Meath county manager, said the new building would save the council €765,000 per annum on rent and maintenance costs alone.
CBRE handled the sale while agent Lisney advised the county council.
