Mothercare shop taken over by Tiger

The Danish multiple Tiger has taken over the last surviving Mothercare shop which has been operating at Eyre Square shopping centre in Galway since it first opened for business in 1991.

The UK company is understood to have paid a reverse premium of more than €131,000 – the equivalent of 12 months rent – to take over the shop which has over 244sq m (2,635sq ft) on two levels.

Tiger has 212 stores in 18 countries, selling goods that are decorative, practical or funny. The main ranges are home and kitchen, stationery and toys, hobbies and cosmetics as well as spices and snacks.

Tiger is represented in this country by George Ross of JLL, while Mothercare is advised by Ellen Duignan of CBRE.
