Fianna Fáil TD Marc MacSharry has submitted an additional 11 parliamentary questions to the Minister for Finance on the leaking of information connected with debtors of the National Asset Management Agency (Nama).

These include a request for Michael Noonan to publish the report produced by Deloitte following its review of data security at Nama in 2012.

He has also asked if law firm Arthur Cox conducted a review of the leaks at Nama and produced a report.

Mr MacSharry last week submitted 15 questions to Mr Noonan on the unlawful disclosure of information connected with Nama debtors.

Having received responses from the Minister earlier this week, Mr MacSharry said a number of questions remained unanswered.

“The Minister has refused to state whether Nama notified all affected debtors if their information was leaked.”

He said a failure to notify debtors would be in breach of the code of practice on personal data approved by the Data Protection Commissioner. Mr MacSharry’s questions were submitted after he received information from a confidential source. He said the information suggested that the leaks involved all of Nama’s 800 debtors.

Suspended sentence

Earlier this month, former Nama official Enda Farrell was given a two-year suspended sentence for leaking potentially sensitive information in 2012 about the Nama valuation of hundreds of properties to named individuals in the investment companies QED Equity Ltd and Canaccord Genuity.

In his latest round of questions, Mr MacSharry has also sought information on another instance of leaked information at Nama, as indicated by Mr Noonan in his answers to Mr MacSharry’s original questions.
