Butlers Chocolate Cafes, the successful Irish chain of chocolate shops and cafes dating back to 1932, is reputed to have spent some €400,000 on fitting out its latest outlet at the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick.

The shop extends to 139 sq m (1,500sq ft) and was previously occupied by Barratts Shoes.

Stephen Murray of JLL, who along with DTZ Sherry FitzGerald act as letting agents for owners Clancourt, said the fact that Butlers had chosen the Crescent for its 26th store underlined the important regional role that the centre fulfils.

The Crescent has also had a string of other recent lettings, including a new JD Sports shop and HMV, which reopened for business in its former store.
