Developer Emma Maye's Ardale group has acquired KCR Builders Providers in a deal estimated to be worth in excess of €1 million.

Ardale – which is active in property, construction and other businesses, has been in expansion mode – and after completing the deal said it is looking for other builders merchants to acquire in the Leinster area as it looks to further expand.

The acquisition of KCR gives Ardale a fifth branch serving the Dublin market, in addition to existing sites at Clondalkin, Blackrock, Ringsend, and Coolock.

No financial details related to the acquisition have been publicly disclosed but industry sources said it likely paid over €1 million for the family-owned business.

“KCR Builders Providers is a key strategic acquisition for us, further strengthening our foothold in the Dublin market, whilst also enabling us to tap into the increased demand in the construction sector,” said Ms Maye. She is a daughter of Castlethorn Construction founder, the late Liam Maye, a developer of Dundrum Town Centre, the State’s biggest shopping mall.

The company is looking to grow its builders providers business, having also invested in additional warehouse space around its Clondalkin and Coolock locations to facilitate their growth.

As well the builders merchants business, Ardale also has a property development arm, currently undertaking development in Wicklow Town, and Arklow.

Recently filed accounts for the group show it recorded a net profit of €4.9 million for 2020.

KCR Builders Providers, which was founded 25-years ago, is to continue to trade under its existing name.

"We are very proud of the successful business that we have built over the past quarter of a century and while it will be sad to see it go, we know that it's in excellent hands with Ardale," said David Gavin, managing partner.
