€4.85m sought for 0.5 hectare site in Blackrock

A key development site formerly occupied by Europa Motors in Blackrock, Co Dublin, will be of interest to a range of housebuilders when it comes on the market today through agents Lambert Smith Hampton.

The agency is seeking offers in excess of €4.85 million for the 0.50 of a hectare (1.25 acres) corner site on Newtown Avenue at its intersection with Seapoint Avenue. It is within 0.8 km of Blackrock town centre and 6.4km from Dublin city centre.

The site contains 2,016sq m (21,674sq ft) of former tram sheds which were converted into car showrooms and workshops.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council granted planning permission in July 2006 for the development of 60 large apartments on site, but this has since lapsed.

Zoning objective

The zoning objective for the site is “to protect, provide and/or improve residential amenity.”

The selling agents say the land would be ideal for a “good quality high density residential scheme”. The site has 120 metres of frontage on to Newtown Avenue, a one-way thoroughfare convenient to public transport links including the quality bus corridor and the Dart stations at Seapoint and Blackrock.
