Third-level students are to receive access to one of the world's most comprehensive science databases, the "Web of Science", provided by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). The service has been made available following an agreement between ISI, a consortium of librarians of Irish universities, the Dublin Institute of Technology and HEAnet - the Republic's higher education and research network.

HEAnet will centrally host and manage the service for the Irish institutions involved in the Libraries Consortium. The site will offer access to more than 8,400 influential journals covering three distinct databases - science, social sciences and arts and humanities. The consortium of librarians comprises DCU, UCD, TCD, NUI Galway, University of Limerick and Dublin Institute of Technology.
