The Taoiseach has reaffirmed the Government's commitment to positioning the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) to take advantage of the great changes facing the industry. At the opening of Citigroup's offices at the IFSC yesterday, Mr Ahern said e-commerce was a key element of Government strategy for the centre. Citigroup, the world's largest banking group, employs 1,500 staff at the its new Dublin office. Its chairman and chief executive, Mr Sandy Weill, said yesterday that Ireland had achieved an economic miracle and he was not overly concerned about the build-up of inflationary pressures in the Irish economy. Citigroup has been in the Republic since 1965 and is now the biggest employer in Dublin's IFSC.
