Planning permission has been given for a €26 million shopping centre in Ardee, Co Louth, which the developers say will provide up to 100 new jobs.

Lanney's SuperValu said work on the new 22,000 square foot centre will start in July and that it should be open by Easter 2005.

Lanney's SuperValu has been operating in Ardee since 1985 and the new site will extend from the current premises and incorporate the mart site. It will provide for a further 16 retail outlets.

The SuperValu in Ardee is owned by Mr Paul Lanney.
