America On-Line (AOL) has launched a new service for stock market investors that enables them to find stocks that meet their chosen criteria.

The StockScreener application was fully developed in Dublin by a team at AOL Technologies Ireland.

StockScreener will be available to AOL's 28 million members as well as other internet users at AOL Money & Finance channel (http://money.aol.com/) in the coming days.

It allows users to tailor their investments based on a number of criteria such as sector of interest, previous performance, analyst ratings, earnings per share and expected performance this year.

They can then track their portfolio and watch how it performs by logging back into the service. Detailed information is provided on the portfolio performance including the person's net worth were they to cash in their investments.

The service currently recommends stocks trading on US, Canadian and UK stock markets. It is understood that data from other markets, including the Irish Stock Exchange, will be added as demand requires.

About 20 developers in Dublin have been working on StockScreener since last summer.

The Time Warner subsidiary employs more than 220 mostly technical staff in Dublin and over 750 staff at a call centre in Waterford which provides customer support for the UK market.
