Healthy eating fast-food chain Freshii has increased its presence in Applegreen stores by adding two new locations in Lusk on the M1 and in Portlaoise on the M7.

The additional outlets will bring the total number of Freshii restaurants to 11 in Ireland. The company says it created 50 new jobs across its four Applegreen locations in the last year.

"The healthy eating option, Freshii, in Lusk North and Enfield West have proved extremely popular to date and we're delighted to be able to offer more of what our customers want to further sites, with a focus on healthy eating in a food-to-go environment", said Conor Lucey, head of operations in Applegreen.

Exceeded expectations

Freshii Ireland chief executive Dave O’Donoghue echoed that sentiment saying, “Lusk and Enfield are open just over a year and have far exceeded everyone’s expectations which clearly means Freshii is resonating with the health-conscious consumers on the road.”

Freshii is a global brand which was founded by its current chief executive, Matthew Corrin, in 2005. The Toronto stock exchange-listed company says it focuses on "making fresh food convenient and affordable to all".

Applegreen, meanwhile, has been doing some expansion of its own. Last week the forecourt retailer announced it had acquired 42 service stations in South Carolina.
