Microsoft reaches fundraising milestone for children’s hospice charity LauraLynn

Microsoft Ireland has reached a milestone in fundraising for children’s hospice charity LauraLynn, raising more than €1.1 million over the past decade as part of an annual cycling fundraiser.

Staff at the company have raised more than €291,000 this year, with the bulk coming from the cycling challenge that took place earlier this month along the Wild Atlantic Way. A group of 100 Microsoft Ireland cyclists and support crew took part in the 400km cycle from Clifden, Co Galway, to Ballina, Co Mayo.

“Since the first cycle back in 2014, our teams have been inspired by LauraLynn and the vital care they provide on a daily basis to children with life-limiting conditions and their families,” said James O’Connor, Microsoft Ireland site lead and vice-president for Microsoft Global Operations Service Centre. “Through the additional €291,000 raised this year, LauraLynn will continue to support increasing numbers of children across the country who are most in need of their help.”

The money raised goes to supporting the palliative care and support offered by LauraLynn, including music therapy, play therapy and bereavement support, and short hospice stays for families in need of respite or crisis care.
