Irish group Ryanair will be named among the world’s top 10 “low-cost carriers” by Airlineratings.com’s Airline Excellence Awards on Thursday.
Airlineratings, which ranks carriers according to safety, passenger service, environmental and other criteria, will name Qatar as its 2022 airline of the year on Thursday.
Ryanair features on its list of the world’s top 10 low-cost airlines. Rival EasyJet topped this category in Europe, while US giant Southwest, and Air Asia, were also among the globe’s leading budget airlines.
The other top scorers in this group include the Irish carrier’s rival, EasyJet, which the website said topped the category in Europe, US giant Southwest, and AirAsia.

According to the website, editors with more than 100 years’ collective experience in industry publications judge the Airline Excellence Awards.
The criteria they use include safety, passenger reviews, profitability, environmental standards and product offerings.
Airlineratings editor in chief, Geoffrey Thomas, noted that Qatar came out with “maximum points in virtually all of our audit criteria”.
Turkish Airlines won the European award for best long haul and Etihad took environmental airline of the year.
