HOPES of a merger between British distribution company Hays and logistics to specialist plant hire group Christian Salvesen were dashed yesterday when Hays pulled out of talks after its improved £1.14 billion bid was rejected. Christian Salvesen's board said it rejected a bid valuing the company at 39 lp a share, an increase from its first offer of 370p.
