The Royal Dublin Society, with a new strategy to create a more sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come, is excited to announce a new collaboration with Trinity College Dublin, Ireland’s leading university. This collaboration is set to create synergies that will recognise Irish businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators making a positive difference in meeting the climate change challenge.
The collaboration between the RDS and Trinity College Dublin marks a significant milestone in both organisations commitment to highlighting the benefits of the circular economy. By combining strengths, expertise, and resources, the two organisations aim to push circular models into the spotlight and help inspire a new generation of innovation leaders, while growing awareness and support with consumers to buy products created with circular principles. The circular economy provides a key solution for our waste crisis, but it also makes solid economic sense, as we face into a future where we must maximise the resources available to us.
The RDS Deputy Chief Executive of the Foundation, Ms Niamh De Loughry, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision of highlighting best practice and solutions which will energise more organisation’s to do the same. We believe the national circular economy awards scheme will highlight and celebrate those organisations and their leaders who seek to achieve new heights and bring innovative circular economy solutions to the market that, were in many instances, previously unimaginable.”

Circular Economy Awards: The Awards will be open to businesses that demonstrate circular practices. This means products or services that use renewable materials and are designed for durability, reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling to keep products, components, and materials circulating in the economy. There will be three categories; Emerging, SME and Multinational. All the information regarding the Circular Economy Awards will be on RDS social media channels and on the RDS website.
The Call for Entries will be opened from January 18, 2024 to February 26, 2024.
Circular design thinking is the driving force behind some of the most interesting and disruptive new businesses. The Circular Economy Awards will recognise and celebrate the organisations, entrepreneurs, and innovators, making a making a positive difference in meeting the climate change challenge through adaptation or adoption of circular economy practices in delivery of products or services.
Alumni Event: The Trinity Executive Education team at Trinity Business School looks will host and coordinate a Circular Economy Leaders Day for category winners and runners up for the purposes of lifelong development, and continued peer-to-peer learning in relation to the implementation of circular economy strategies and processes.
The combined efforts of the RDS and Trinity College Dublin are aimed at empowering those leaders who seek to create and operationalise innovative solutions in meeting the climate change challenge through circular economy practices.
