Meta Quest 3: Slimmer headset with higher resolution and better performance

Cynics among us may see this as a pre-emptive strike, to get out ahead of any Apple launch

Meta Quest 3

Meta is on a mission: a metaverse mission. The company has just announced the launch of its Quest 3 headset, a slimmer device with a higher resolution and better performance. This includes colour pass-through cameras, which means you’ll see the world as you should if you decide to wander around with this strapped to your face, and a more powerful Snapdragon chip. The 128GB headset will start at $500 (€468), with an additional capacity headset if you need more space, and will ship later in the autumn. Meta also announced a price drop for the Quest 2, which will be half the price of the new device.

The cynics among us may see this as a pre-emptive strike, to get out ahead of any Apple headset launch that had been long anticipated for the Worldwide Developers Conference event this week. But as the VR wars heat up, we will have to wait and see who has taken the right approach.
