Williams to coach Lansdowne

The dust has hardly settled on most clubs' seasons but already two new coaches have been named for next season. Harry Williams, outgoing Ulster director of rugby, will take over at Lansdowne next season while Kevin Dinneen has been named as the heir apparent to John Kingston at Galwegians after the latter moves on to Harlequins this summer.

It's a surprising move for Williams, who has just completed his second stint as Ulster coach, having guided them to four interpro titles in a row from 1987 to 1990 and of course to the European Cup in his second spell.

The 39-year-old Dinneen, the Connacht under-21 coach, who has been assistant coach to Kingston at Crowley Park for the last couple of years, is a qualified barrister and a captain in the Army who has moved into coaching after a playing career with Old Crescent, Bective Rangers, Lansdowne, Galwegians and Connacht.
