Thirty-four points against England, including an unprecedented five drop goals are certain to grab a few headlines for the South African out-half but Planet Rugby decided to find out more about Jannie de Beer (right), the man preferred to Henry Honiball.

His full name is Jan Hendrik de Beer and he was born in Welkom, Free State 28 years ago.

His favourite music is praise and worship songs, he loved the film Titanic and his favourite food is Boerekos. Married to Vicky, they have one daughter, Kirsten, while a second is due in March 2000. His spare time he devotes to golf, squash and sightseeing and the three people he'd most like to meet are Fred Couples, Tiger Woods and his second child. Oh, and the way he prepares for a big match. "From the Wednesday, I try to focus on the match, on the day I like to listen to music."

Indeed de Beer shattered the record for most drop goals in a match even outside of the World Cup when he landed five against England.
