Club career: The man often described as the quickest full-back in Europe by Bobby Charlton was signed from Shelbourne for Manchester United by Matt Busby in April 1960. Established himself in the first team in his second season at Old Trafford and remained there for the next 12 years, making over 500 appearances at right and left back. Won two league medals (1965 and 1967), one FA Cup medal (1963) and was in the European Cup winning side in 1968. Moved on to Bolton Wanderers in 1973, where he spent six seasons, returning to a coaching post at the club after a summer with Detroit Express in the NASL (1979). Also had a brief spell as coach to Norwegian club Steinkjer in the early 1980s.
International career: Made his debut for the Republic against Austria (lost 3-2) at Dalymount Park in 1962, winning another 31 caps over the next 13 years.
Where is he now? Dunne (57) lives in Sale, Lancashire, and runs a golf complex and driving range in nearby Altrincham, which he opened in 1984. Sounds like he's one of his own best customers - he once got his handicap down to two.
