Tunisia eases chill

AS the chill creeps into the Irish evening air, Panorama Holiday Group's launch of a new winter golfing brochure to Tunisia is rather timely. The north African coast may not be traditional golfing terrain, but the development of a number of courses there in recent years - allied to the climate - is proving increasingly popular.

Interestingly, Panorama have attempted to cater for all categories in developing their programme which runs from November 1st to April 30th. Women, couples, corporate and beginners are among the range of competitions organised - and the "Learn to Play" package is particularly attractive.

This five-day tuition package includes free club hire and balls, two hours tuition per day, 100 practice balls for the driving range and a book on the rules of golf. The package comes at a cost of £175.

Prices for the actual excursions start at £245 per person for seven nights self-catering in Port El Kantaoui or £279 for four nights hotel half-board in Skanes. "We're delighted to be able to offer such a comprehensive range," said Niall McDonnell, the company's sales manager. The recently completed Djerba course is new to Panorama's programme, along with established courses Citrus and Yasmine in Hammamet, the El Kantaoui course in Port El Kantaoui, and the Flamingo and Palm Links courses in Monastir.
