Tolka feel the pressure

It all appears to be going wrong for Tolka Rovers as they seek their first women's Superleague title

It all appears to be going wrong for Tolka Rovers as they seek their first women's Superleague title. Three defeats in succession, including the 61-54 loss to Meteors yesterday, means that after leading all season and they are now joined at the top by defending champions Avonmore Snowcream Wildcats.

It's now sure to go down to the wire with just two games remaining. The Wildcats dominated their 68-51 win over the University of Limerick on Saturday and are certainly back in the hunt to retain the title - a scenario that appeared to be beyond them for most of the season.

On top of that, there was nothing convincing about the Tolka display yesterday. Meteors held the lead throughout the game, and with a 10-point cushion at half-time (34-24), were always cruising towards the victory.

Meanwhile, Neptune maintained their superiority with a 98-73 win over the men at Tolka Rovers. There's a three-way tie for the runner-up position as Star of the Sea, Denny Notre Dame and Esat Telecom Demons all recorded comfortable weekend victories.
