HOCKEY:THREE ROCK Rovers gained their revenge on the Monkstown side which knocked them out of the Irish Senior Cup earlier in the season. Two goals, from Mitch Darling and Phelie Maguire, gave Rovers the much-needed points to keep them on top of the table.

Rovers are now in pole position as the league draws to a close, with some clubs, including themselves, having just one match remaining.

Bray gained their first point of the season in 16 matches in a 3-3 draw with UCD. That, though, is a little too late to arrest their slide towards Division Two next season.

UCD are also perilously close to the bottom and look certain to finish second-last.

Glenanne also kept their name up towards the top to ensure a place in next season's All-Ireland League.

The Tallaght side, that last week won their European tournament in Paris, maintained their winning ways and are now comfortably in third position after a 3-2 win over Corinthians, thus securing that all-important position inside the top four.

The real dogfight will come for the fourth place on the table, which ensured automatic qualification for next season's restructured league.

Monkstown occupy third, with Fingal just a point behind and with a game in hand.

In the Junior ranks, Pembroke added to the silverware cabinet at Serpentine Avenue when they defeated Ulster's Annadale 3-2 to carry off the Irish Cup.
