Roy the rover

Not many people know it, but yesterday marked an historic day in the history of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind when the 300th Guide Dog, "Roy", was harnessed and went into service.

The dog is called "Roy" after the man who will lead out Manchester United today in the FA Cup final at Wembley. According to project manager Anne Sweeney, Keane took an interest in the hound when he was a puppy. After it was named after him, he paid a visit to the training centre for Guide Dogs on the Model Farm Road in Cork last September.

Ten-to-one the person who becomes Roy's owner is a Liverpool fan!
