Reid may step in for Sligo

Sligo Rovers' player-manager, Nicky Reid, may return to action for this evening's League Cup semi-final second leg in a bid to end his side's dismal two-month run without a victory. His side, whose last competitive win was over Bray in the quarterfinals, held Home Farm/Everton to a 0-0 draw at Whitehall in the first leg and they hope to go one better this evening. "It was a decent result down there, but I'm not counting any chickens yet," said Reid. "We need to get a couple of wins, particularly at home, because it's frustrating for the crowd, but I still feel that I don't need to change things too much."

Reid's return to the heart of defence is likely to be the only change in the Rovers team, with Marcus Hallows certain to start again instead of the injured Falcon Rose. Like Reid, Home Farm manager Dermot Keely will choose from the same panel of players for this evening's game (kick off 7.30), although the Dubliner may decide to juggle things about to salvage something from what has been a disappointing campaign.

A 1-0 defeat by Cobh at the weekend was the latest blow for the Whitehall club and in the circumstances, Keely admits: "It would be nice to reach a cup final, it would be a boost for the young lads."
