No change in the top two in Leinster

HOCKEY: There's no change in the top two of the Leinster first division after leaders Pembroke Wanderers and closest rivals Three Rock Rovers had comfortable victories on Saturday. But Glenanne's title challenge received a potentially fatal blow yesterday when they lost 5-1 to Monkstown.

While the absence of Stephen Butler and Graham Shaw, away on international duty, is not helping Glenanne's cause in the second half of the season, there were no complaints from the Tallaght club yesterday after two goals from Ian Allen and one apiece from Filip Jaros, Gareth Watkins and Simon Groves gave Monkstown the most emphatic of wins.

Pembroke and Three Rock eased to their victories over clubs from the bottom three in the table. John McInroy scored a hat-trick in Pembroke's 8-1 drubbing of UCD, and Kyle Good and Maarten Sier got two apiece in Three Rock's 6-0 defeat of Kilkenny.

The weekend's top scorers, though, were Fingal, adding to Bray's already considerable woes by beating the bottom club 10-0. Paddy Gahan, Adrian Sweeney and Chris Neville sharing six of their goals.

Corinthian, meanwhile, shaded their game against YMCA, with Dan Williams and Miles Warren getting their goals in a 2-1 win.
