Derry City v Bray Wanderers

Eamonn Doherty remains the only doubt for Derry City, with the full back having done some light training this week without looking to have fully recovered from the calf strain that kept him out of the Cork City game.

If Doherty does miss out, then Eddie McCallion, who made his debut in Cork, will start again for the Candystripes. The rest of the team is expected to be unchanged, despite having failed to pick up a point from their opening two games.

Bray may also be unchanged, with Pat Devlin adding the recently signed youngster Robert Doyle, an Irish Under-16 international who featured in the recent tournament games in Iceland, to the squad that visited Shamrock Rovers a week ago.

The win at Tolka Park will have given a bit of a boost to the Wanderers players, particularly given how well they defended. Kieran O'Brien will be in the hunt for a return to the first team, but Jason Byrne's winner last week may well be enough to secure his starting place again.

UCD v Sligo Rovers

Nicky Reid will have to shuffle his deck, for Steve Birks, Padraig Moran and Ian Lynch all look very doubtful, while Brian Hetherstone is one of a couple others who are on the doubtful list.

On the brighter side, young striker Sean Flannery and centre half Mattie Hare are available, and Reid may put off his own return to first team action if Hare is reckoned to be ready to start a game for the first time since the opening League Cup clash with Derry.

UCD have striker Mick O'Byrne back from injury and, if fully fit, will almost certainly start. Eoin Bennis, who filled in for him over the last couple of weeks and scored the club's first competitive goal of the season against Shelbourne last week, may be kept in, however, with a bit of a reshuffle taking place elsewhere within the side.

Today: While new Athlone Town manager James Coll takes charge for the first time at Home Farm this evening, Cobh boss John O'Rourke will be hoping that his side can build on a promising start to the season at Kilkenny.

Ramblers have won two out of three so far, with St Francis, something of a bogey team for the southerners, inflicting their only defeat. For this evening's game they are still without a couple of their longer-term injury casualties, but Keith Dalton should be in line to start again after coming on from the bench in the last couple of games. Philip Long is hoping to be recovered from a knock picked up in the match against Home Farm Everton earlier this week.

Longford's record so far is, like Cobh's, two wins and one defeat, but manager Stephen Kenny looks like being forced into changes for the home game against St Francis.

Shay Zeller is doubtful after receiving stitches to a head wound during the midweek defeat of Monaghan, while on-loan striker Ken Lundy will be out for three weeks after pulling a hamstring in the same game.

Despite working off a small squad, Kenny reckons he still has one or two options, with former Francis player Mark Devlin, Gavin Creedon, Enda Kenny and local 18-year-old James Farrell all competing for the vacant places.
